The Importance of Student Evaluations/Assessments
Prior to Having Tutoring Services.

An evaluation of a students strengths and weaknesses prior to tutoring is most important, because it gives the tutor/teacher a picture of where the student stands among his or her classmates at the present time, in reference to a specific skill or skills or an academic subject. The evaluation/assessment pinpoints the academic skill or skills that the student needs tutoring.

In order for a student to overcome a stumbling block or weak academic area related to being successful in school, the assessment is the key to unlocking the door to the student having success in the tutoring program. Tutoring without an assessment is like driving a car at night with your lights off. You can't see where you are going!
